If company names are arriving in ALL CAPITALS, or individual names show as SMITH, John when you'd prefer John Smith, the fix is your organisation's Sync Preferences. These settings control how Nagaris formats client names everywhere in the product, including names that come in from your practice management system.
In the sidebar, open Settings and choose Organisation Details.
Find the Sync Preferences card. It notes: These settings control how Nagaris formats names and syncs data with your practice management software.
Click the edit button to open Edit Sync Preferences. Only firm admins can edit this card — if you don't see the edit button, ask an admin.
Service Integration — Choose where jobs and services are managed. The options are Nagaris — Manage jobs and services directly and XPM — Sync from Xero Practice Manager. Pick XPM if your firm's jobs and services should come from XPM; pick Nagaris to manage them natively.
Individual Name Format — How individual client names appear throughout Nagaris. The options are:
First Last — e.g. John Smith
Last, First — e.g. Smith, John
LAST, First — e.g. SMITH, John
Non-Individual Name Format — How company, trust and other entity names appear. The options are:
As Is — e.g. Smith Family Trust
UPPERCASE — e.g. SMITH FAMILY TRUST
Click Save — you'll see Nagaris settings updated successfully.
To stop company, trust and other entity names displaying in capitals, set Non-Individual Name Format to As Is — e.g. Smith Family Trust. Nagaris will then show these names exactly as they are recorded, rather than converting them to uppercase.
For individuals, choose whichever of the three formats matches your firm's house style — First Last is the most natural for correspondence, while the Last, First styles suit firms that sort and scan lists by surname.
These are organisation-wide display settings — they apply for everyone at your firm.
If none of the available formats gives you what you need, contact support and we'll help.
