Two cards on the Xero Practice Manager tab (Settings → Integrations) fine-tune how imported XPM data lands in Nagaris: XPM Business Structure Mapping decides what type each imported client becomes, and XPM Staff connects XPM staff records to your Nagaris team members. Both cards appear only once XPM is connected.
Every client in XPM has a business structure, and Nagaris uses this mapping to decide which client type to create on import. The card lists each XPM business structure alongside the Nagaris client type it maps to.
To change a mapping:
Click the edit button on the XPM Business Structure Mapping card to open Edit Business Structure Mappings.
For each XPM business structure, pick the Nagaris client type from the dropdown. The available types are Sole Trader, Individual Tax Return, Company, Trust, Partnership, SMSF and Other Client.
Each change saves immediately — you'll see Mapping updated successfully.
If the card shows No business structure mappings found, run an import from XPM first so Nagaris can discover the structures used in your practice.
The XPM Staff card lists Staff members from your Xero Practice Manager, with a badge showing the total (for example 12 Staff Members). Linking an XPM staff member to a Nagaris team member means work attributed to them in XPM (such as timesheets and job assignments) is matched to the right person in Nagaris.
For each XPM staff member you can:
Link to a Team Member — click the person-plus button (hover text Link to a Team Member) and pick from the Link to Member list, which shows your team members that aren't yet linked. On success: XPM staff linked successfully. If everyone is already linked you'll see No available members to link.
Unlink — if a staff member is already linked, the red unlink button removes the connection (XPM staff unlinked successfully).
Invite — if the XPM staff member's email address doesn't belong to anyone in your organisation yet, an invite button appears (hover text Invite to followed by your firm's name). It opens the standard team invitation with the email pre-filled, so you can bring them into Nagaris and then link them.
If the staff list fails to load, the card shows an error with a Retry button.
No staff members found usually means the XPM import hasn't run yet — trigger Import from XPM from the integration card's three-dot menu and check back.
Changing a business structure mapping affects how clients are typed on future imports; it doesn't retype clients that have already been imported.
