Connecting Xero Practice Manager (XPM) lets Nagaris sync your contacts, clients, client groups, jobs and timesheets with your practice management system. This article walks through the connection from start to finish.
You'll sign in to Xero as part of the connection, so have the Xero login your firm uses for XPM ready. The Integrations page is available to team members; client-portal users cannot see it.
In the sidebar, open Settings and choose Integrations. The Xero Practice Manager tab opens first.
On the Xero Practice Manager Integration card, click Connect XPM Account. (If you have already signed in with Xero before, the button reads Connect XPM Organisation instead.)
You are taken to Xero to sign in and authorise Nagaris, then returned to the Integrations page.
The Practice Manager Connections dialog opens, listing each Practice Manager organisation on your Xero account with its name and ID. Click Connect next to the organisation you want to link.
Leave Import my existing XPM data ticked (it is marked RECOMMENDED) to automatically sync your Contacts, Clients, Client Groups, Jobs, and Timesheets. The initial sync may take a few minutes depending on your data size.
When the link succeeds you'll see XPM organisation connected successfully., and if you left the import ticked, Import from XPM initiated successfully.
If the dialog shows No Practice Manager connections found, the Xero account you signed in with doesn't have a Practice Manager organisation attached — sign in with the Xero user that has access to your XPM.
Your XPM organisation name and Connected since date.
A green Connected badge (this changes to Token Expired or Connection Error if something goes wrong — see the troubleshooting article).
Two sync switches: Nagaris automatically updates XPM and XPM automatically updates Nagaris. Turn each direction on or off to suit how your firm works.
Once connected, three more cards appear on the tab: XPM Staff (link XPM staff to your Nagaris team), XPM Business Structure Mapping (map XPM structures to Nagaris client types) and XPM Export Upload (upload a full XPM export file). Each has its own article in this section.
On the Xero Practice Manager Integration card, open the three-dot Extra Actions menu and choose Disconnect XPM. You'll see XPM organisation unlinked successfully. Your Nagaris data stays in place — disconnecting only stops the two systems talking to each other. You can reconnect later using the same steps above; when you do, Nagaris restores the link to your previous XPM organisation.
The three-dot menu on the card also contains Refresh XPM, Import from XPM, Get Jobs from XPM and Get Timesheets from XPM — see the importing and sync articles for what each does.
If you skipped the initial import, you can run it any time with Import from XPM; skipping it does not block the connection.
You can also sign in to Nagaris itself with Continue with Xero on the sign-in page — the same Xero identity is used for the XPM connection.
