Tags are colour-coded labels you can attach to clients, client groups and contacts. One shared tag library covers all three, so a tag like High Priority or SMSF audit works everywhere and can drive filters and saved views.
Staff users manage the library on the Tags page — open the Settings menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Tags. The page lists every tag with its Name, Description, Colour, Status (Active or Inactive) and when it was last updated.
Click New Tag to create one: enter a Name (e.g. High Priority), an optional Description, pick a Colour, and leave Active switched on. Inactive tags are hidden from selection but stay on records they're already applied to.
Use the pencil (Edit Tag) and bin (Delete Tag) buttons on each row. Deleting asks for confirmation and removes the tag everywhere; toasts confirm each action (Tag created., Tag updated., Tag deleted.).
On the Clients, Client Groups and Contacts lists, tags live in the name column:
If a record has no tags, a small dashed tag icon sits to the right of the name (its tooltip reads Add Tags). Click it to open the tag picker.
Existing tags appear as colour-coded badges below the name, with an Add Tag icon at the end and a +N more badge when there are more than three. Click a badge's cross to remove that tag instantly.
The tag picker shows your tags with checkboxes (currently applied ones sorted first), a search box, a running N selected count with Clear All, an Add New Tag shortcut to create a tag on the fly (it's applied immediately), and a Manage tags link to the Tags page. Changes save as you tick and untick.
The same editor appears on detail pages — for example in the header of a client's details card and on the group details card.
Every list has a Tags filter (on the Clients and Contacts lists it's behind the More button). Selected tags also show as chips under the toolbar with a Clear tags shortcut, and tag filters can be saved into views.
To tag many records at once, select rows with the checkboxes and click Set Tags in the bulk actions bar. Tick the tags, then click Add to apply them or Remove to strip them from everything selected.
Client-role users see tag badges on lists but cannot add, edit or remove them, and they don't have access to the Tags page.
A tag's colour tints its badge everywhere it appears, including filter chips — pick distinct colours for tags you'll scan for often.
Tags created from the picker have no colour or description until you edit them on the Tags page.
