Tasks are the steps inside a job — usually one per service. The Tasks section of the job page is where you tick work off, see how much time and cost each task has accumulated, and create invoices from finished work.
Open a job and scroll to Tasks. Each row shows:
Task name — the service or task name.
Status — a clickable badge, either Pending or Completed.
Hours spent — actual time logged against the task.
Total cost — the task's actual cost (WIP) in dollars.
Billed — a green tick once the task appears on a non-draft invoice.
Due date — the task's own due date, when set.
A clock icon to log time against the task.
Headers are sortable on the standalone job page, and the list paginates at 20 rows. The small chevron next to the Tasks heading collapses or expands the table.
Click Add Service to open the service picker and add services from your catalogue to the job — each becomes a task, assigned to a client in the group. You'll see Service added successfully (or Service removed successfully when you take one off). For XPM-connected firms this picker lists only services linked to XPM tasks; custom services (which carry a Custom badge elsewhere) don't become tasks inside an XPM job. Firms without an XPM connection see their full service list here.
Click a task's Pending badge to mark it complete (Task marked as completed), or its Completed badge to reopen it (Task reopened successfully). The badge reads Updating... while it saves.
When the last task is ticked off you'll see All tasks are now completed, and the job's header badge flips to Completed.
Mark all tasks as complete (N) appears while any tasks are pending; it asks Mark all tasks as complete? before proceeding.
Once everything is complete, the button becomes Mark all tasks as pending (N) with a matching confirmation, in case you closed the job too early.
For XPM-connected firms, task changes are blocked while the job's XPM status is still Pending — the tooltip reads Cannot modify tasks while job XPM status is pending. Submit the job to XPM first.
Two tools show the timesheet detail behind the numbers:
Expand a task row — task rows with logged time show a chevron; expanding lists each individual timesheet entry with the staff member, date, time and WIP value. If a task has none you'll see No timesheet entries logged for this task yet.
Switch the view — the toggle at the top right of the Tasks section switches between By task (the table above) and By team members. The team view lists each person who logged time on the job with their total Hours and WIP; expand a person to see the tasks and dates they worked. If nothing is logged yet: No time has been logged on this job yet.
The same By task / By team members toggle is available on an engagement's jobs table, so you can review time across a whole engagement without opening each job.
Click the clock icon on any task row to open the Log Time panel with the client, job and task already filled in — enter the date, time and notes and save. See Logging time for the full run-down.
Tick the checkboxes on one or more task rows and click Create Invoice in the bulk actions bar. The invoice panel opens pre-loaded with those tasks; once the invoice exists, the Billed column shows a tick and the job page gains an Invoices section.
Task completion drives the job's Active/Completed badge and the N of N tasks complete line in the job header.
Estimated minutes for a task come from the service or can be set when configuring the job, and feed the Actual / Estimated comparison on job lists.
