Creating a job

Every way to create a job in Nagaris: from the Jobs page, the sidebar, a client group, an engagement, or the Proposal Builder.

There are several ways to create a job, depending on where you're working. All of them end up in the same place: a job you can open, add tasks to, assign staff to and log time against.

From the Jobs page

  1. Go to Jobs in the sidebar and click New Job.

  2. In the Select Client Group dialog, start typing to search (Search for client groups...), then click the group the job belongs to. If nothing matches you'll see No client groups found.

  3. The New Job dialog opens — see The New Job dialog below.

From the sidebar

  • Hover over Jobs in the sidebar and click the + that appears, then choose New Job. If you're already on a client group's pages, Nagaris skips the group search and uses that group; otherwise the Select Client Group dialog opens first.

  • You can also open a client group and use its Jobs page — it has its own New Job button.

The New Job dialog

The New Job dialog asks for:

  • Primary Client (required) — The main client responsible for this job. Other clients can be assigned to individual services within the job. Archived clients are not selectable.

  • Schedule — choose One-time job or Recurring. Recurring schedules use preset patterns to generate each job's start and due dates and are covered in their own article.

  • Job Name (required) — pre-filled with FY26 followed by the client group's name; replace it with anything you like, or click the wand icon to apply a job name template.

Click Create Job (the button reads Creating... while it saves). Nagaris creates the job with today's date as the start date and the next 30 June as the due date, and takes you straight to the new job's page. You can change the dates afterwards by editing the job. For XPM-connected firms, standalone jobs are submitted to XPM immediately.

If you skip a required field you'll see Please select a primary client or Please enter a job name.

From an engagement

Open the engagement and click Add Job above its jobs table. The Add Job to Engagement panel (Configure the job details and add it to this engagement.) asks for:

  • Client (required) and Job Name (required, with the template wand).

  • Engagement Period (required) — pick a start and end date range.

  • Category — one of your XPM categories.

  • Staff Assignments — opens the Assign Staff dialog to pick a partner, manager and team members.

  • Services — click Add Services to attach services to the job; the count of selected services is shown.

  • Budget.

Click Add Job to save; you'll see Job added successfully. Timing matters here: if the engagement has already been accepted, the job is sent to XPM immediately; if the engagement hasn't been accepted yet, the job is deployed to XPM when the client accepts.

From the Proposal Builder

While building a proposal, the Jobs tab lets you group services into jobs and set budgets before anything is sent. If there are no jobs yet you'll see No jobs yet — Create a job to group services and track budgets with an Add Job button. Services not yet grouped appear in an Unassigned Services card with an Assign to Job button. These jobs are deployed to XPM according to the engagement's acceptance flow.

Good to know

  • You cannot create jobs in an archived client group — Nagaris blocks it with Cannot create jobs in an archived client group.

  • If creation fails you'll see Failed to create job. Please try again. — check the client group and try again, or contact support if it persists.

  • After creating a job, use Add Service on the job page to build out its task list, and Edit staff to assign the team.
